Ahmad Smith is a freshman majoring in Kinesiology at Morehouse College. He chose this major due to his love of health, sports and helping others. There are times when we choose directions in our life. However, there are times when they are chosen for us. Prior to his senior year, He incurred an injury from football that put a halt on all the activities he had planned for his senior year. Instead, he spent the time focusing on repairing damage to his body. When Ahmad truly began to reflect on this event, he began to realize that he could help others through the process of healing from a devastating injury. Physical Therapy will enable him to continue to the community and help others through the difficult experience of recovering from injuries. His experience with football was a gift in disguise, as it helped him discover which direction he will take his education.
Ahmad chose to attend Morehouse College due to the fact that it will allow him to be free with who he is. During his visit, he met students and staff whom he immediately had connections with. The life of a Morehouse man is a true life; one goes there to find who they are and what they are about. He felt the importance of a history and the impact it will have on his life.
In the African American community, when a student goes to college they do not go alone. He will be taking with African American man and even woman who will never get the opportunity and also every member of his family, especially his younger male cousins growing up after him. Soon after his acceptance to Morehouse, he found out that my grandmother want the men of the family to attend Morehouse and is honored because he will be the first
